Congratulations to Barry Bonds for hitting his 756th home run tonight against the Washington Nationals.  Home runs are the biggest opportunities for individual players to excel in a team sport than any other single play or action, and now Barry Bonds is the most prolific home run hitter to ever play the game.  Whether you’re a fan of Bonds, the Giants, Aaron or the Braves, you have to acknowledge that this feat is truly historic. 

After the home run, the Giants played a pre-recorded message from Henry Aaron congratulating Barry on his accomplishment.  There was no malice or distress in Aaron’s demeanor and it shows how important this record is to the history of the game of baseball.  Despite what many people believe Bonds may have done off the field, what he has done on the field is simply be the greatest hitter in the history of the game.
